Ron A. Hobgood

IN MEMORIAM

On August 22, 2017, our dear friend and colleague of many years, Ron Hobgood, succumbed after a lengthy battle with cancer. Ron started his career as a civil trial lawyer handling cases on behalf of insurance companies. He successfully litigated and tried numerous large and complex cases and became a partner in a large Midwest law firm, Kightlinger & Gray. Ultimately, the lure of beautiful weather and family obligations brought Ron and his wife, Jayne, to Florida and the Tampa Bay area. In the ensuing years, although Ron continued to represent insurance companies for a period, he shifted his practice to exclusively representing accident victims and policyholders. Ron held a law degree from the Indiana University School of Law and was Board Certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He was a certified mediator and member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Ron authored a number of insurance related articles and enjoyed serving as one of the featured speakers for the FAPIA Public Adjusting 101 course for many years. Ron was involved in a number of charitable activities and often traveled to Haiti where he shared his expertise and sweat drilling freshwater wells for needy Haitians. Ron was admired and beloved for his intelligence, compassion, honesty, industry and good humor. One could not wish for a finer friend and co-worker. Ron is survived by his spouse of 45 years, Jayne, with whom he fathered 3 talented and successful sons.
